Living Legacies Launch

June 6 was a special day for both Liz Pearl and Bookclub-in-a-Box. Pearl launched Volume II of her series Living Legacies: A Collection of Writing by Contemporary Canadian Jewish Women. The Bookclub-in-a-Box Centre at Bathurst and Eglinton was overflowing with participants, friends, families, and admirers. It was standing room only as Pearl introduced and applauded the book’s literary contributors. The stories read ranged in topic from the contemplation of identity, the experience of racism, acquiring a step-daughter/friend, and even writer’s block. The program opened and closed with two musical selections.

Dr. Sharon Baltman

Sarah Margles

Dr. Sylvia Solomon Bereskin

Sonia Halpern

The program was co-sponsored by Bookclub-in-a-Box and Na’amat Canada (Club Dayan). We look forward to future book launches. They are a wonderful way to get the “word” out!
