Treat yourself to a night out at the movies. Bring your friends and enjoy pizza, popcorn and a great film. This series portrays the various aspects of memory – dream, remembrance, perception, consciousness and recollection. There will be a short discussion after the film.
Sweet Hereafter (1997) is a poignant film about a town’s tragedy told partly in flashbacks to highlight the idea of collective memory.
Film Leader: Alison Zemell
Alison completed her BFA in Film Production at York University. She wrote and directed several short films, including “Persistence of Silence,” and “Still,” both of which went on to play in film festivals, and worked as a production manager on short films, feature films and the children’s television show Ricky’s Room. She then completed a masters degree in Film History from Birkbeck University of London. While in England, she also worked at the British Film Institute. Currently, Alison is part of the Worldwide Short Film Festival.
