The Red Tent |
|
This book is a powerful
picture of the relationships of women. Inspired by the Biblical
account of Dinah, this fictional rendition captures a first-person
look into what women’s lives would be during this time. From being
one of many wives, to being treated as primarily mothers, and little
else, it manages not to be subversive, but also not overly feminist.
The red tent is a place where the women go to experience their
menstrual cycle, and to give birth, but it symbolizes the family
that a group of women can have and be for each other.
